The appointment of Joseph Varda as a head of the Janus's US representative office marks the next step in the development of our company abroad. Joseph Varda has over 7 years in the localization/translation industry. With over 20 years of B2B sales, marketing and management expertise, Joseph is managing all facets of business development in our US office. In his role as Business Development Director, his main responsibility will be the implementation of the US strategy and leading all sales opportunities related to the US.
Throughout his career in the translation industry, he has assisted hundreds of small, medium, and global companies to manage their translation and localization processes efficiently and effectively.
Prior to joining Janus Worldwide, he held various positions such as Vice President of Sales and Director of Sales for leading translation/localization providers, as well as General Manager, Vice President and Director of Business Development with global software and technology companies.
Joseph received his Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Phoenix.
Joseph Varda coordinates the company's business in the United States. He faces challenges in taking our company to new markets and strengthening and developing relationships with key partners and customers.
Janus's US representative office is successfully developing, so we believe that Janus will take a significant place in the American localization market. |

This year, our company is successfully continuing a training program with universities of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tomsk and Nizhny Novgorod.
This program was launched in 2009, when Janus decided to send its experts to arrange various workshops in a number of Moscow universities. In 2011, the program was extended to St. Petersburg and Tomsk, and our experts visited St. Petersburg State University, Tomsk State University, Tomsk State Pedagogical University and Tomsk Institute of International Education and Language Communication. In 2012, Janus arranged a series of workshops in universities of Russia, as well as a competition for the best translation by Russian university students.
In 2013, we are once again announcing a competition for the 3, 4 and 5 year students of all language universities in Russia (Moscow Institute of Linguistics, Russian State Humanitarian University, Higher School of Translation within Moscow State University, Nizhny Novgorod State Linguistic University, St. Petersburg State University, Tomsk State University and others). The winners will receive cash prizes, paid internships and employment in our company.
Janus pays special attention to the training of students. During practical training, they are provided with the opportunity to explore the entire production process of translation and localization from the inside, based on the example of the largest projects from leading organizations in IT, engineering, the oil and gas industry and many others.

In February 2013 our company underwent a supervisory audit. Janus has once again confirmed that its Quality Management System complies with the international standard ISO 9001:2008.
Janus was first certified in 2006, and since 2009 the audit has been conducted by TUV SUD RUSSLAND, who have tested all aspects of the QMS.
TUV SUD RUSSLAND is the Official representative of TUV SUD in the Russian Federation. In each of the last two years its experts confirmed that our Quality Management System complied with the International Standard ISO 9001:2008, and now, one year on, they have once again checked that this is the case.
The supervisory audit included verification of the following:
- Mechanisms for monitoring client satisfaction.
- How the company works with its personnel.
- QMS documentation - checking that it complies with the standard and is up-to-date,
- Observation of the procedures implemented and factual confirmation of this.
- Core aspects of the production process.
The auditors analyzed Janus’s QMS once again and familiarized themselves with the changes that had been made over the course of the year. Just as in every other year, it was found that the QMS worked better: during the recertification process there were significantly fewer criticisms than last year. Moreover, by comparison with last year we have improved our methods of document circulation and the way in which we work with our personnel.
This audit has shown that Janus’s Quality Management System is developing and evolving to stay in-sync with the company’s strong, organic growth. All of our new areas of activity and working methods are founded upon compliance with international standard ISO 9001:2008 from the outset, something that guarantees the quality and accuracy of our services. |

On Saturday, March 2, Janus provided simultaneous interpretation services at the final of the “Miss Russia” contest, for the second time.
Two Janus interpreters provided their services at the "Miss Russia" contest: one carried out simultaneous interpretation of the entire show, and the second acted as personal interpreter to "Miss World 2012”, Yu Wenxia, and "Miss Universe 2012", Olivia Culpo, who had made a special visit to Russia to take part in our national competition as members of the jury. The work done by our staff earned positive feedback and gratitude from the organizers.

“Miss Russia” is a unique project featuring Russia’s most beautiful and original girls, all striving for self-fulfillment, who earn the admiration and delight of the audience with their appeal, grace and elegance. The winner can look forward to professional development and a career as a model or in show business. Each year the national "Miss Russia" project covers a larger and larger area. At present, the qualifying rounds of the competition take place in 80 regions of the Russian Federation, and the casting sessions are attended by over 50,000 girls.
This year, the jury included singer Dmitry Malikov, restaurateur Arkady Novikov, fashion designer Valentin Yudashkin, the CEO of Axel Springer Russia FM, Regina von Flemming, and tennis player Anastasia Myskina.

On March 3, 2013, Janus held a master class in “Sales for Non-Sales Professionals: How to Make Your Customer Service Team a Star” for account managers, project managers, QA-managers and other professionals responsible for communicating with major customers. The master-class was held by a well-known management consultant, the former head of the Nordic TRADOS units and Common Sense Advisory, Anne-Marie Colliander Lind.
Anne-Marie is a recognized force in the European language industry landscape. She has spent the last 20 years helping multinational organizations solve their language issues by occupying executive sales and management positions at leading service, technology and market research companies. Anne-Marie is the CEO of Inkrea.se, a management consulting company based in Sweden, assisting companies in their growth and development strategies. She runs fundraising activities for Translators without Borders and organizes localization and technology events in the Nordics.
The training session was conducted in English and included materials helping to formulate right questions to the customers, client classification by the level of maturity and their requirements, the buying cycle of translation services and so on. With our staff, Anna Maria conducted exercises of reasoning and negotiation and time management. She also spoke about ways to find time for communicating with the client and to not failing to meet deadlines. The training session helped our employees to learn how to ask right questions in everyday communication with customers by finding their unrealized business needs. It also formed the attitude of the staff to any process in the company as to a critical business part, and that attitude will certainly be useful for the further improvement of employees and for the company's prosperity.
Janus thanks Anne-Marie Colliander Lind for passing on such invaluable experience and the training session, and hopes to cooperate in the future on increasing the professionalism of the staff and business development. |
